Starting from the premise that earth sheltering could act as a quasi-universal thermal regulator, the Earth Pods were an exploration on the subject of bermed or semi-buried dwellings. In order to do so, a prototypical transferable model was studied in 3 different climates (Austin TX, Geneva Switzerland, and Merida, Venezuela), with the objective of establishing parameters of adaptation into each climate. The final result was to have a fully transferable structure that could be built remotely, assembled in place and be earth sheltered.
