This proposal for the Regional Sengkang Hospital competition focused on informing the design process with a thorough, high-tech response to the tropical climatic conditions of Singapore. Thus, aspects such as the massing of the building, the porosity of the envelope and the configuration of interior spaces obeyed environmental conditions such as prevailing winds, sun/shadow, monsoon seasonal rains and relative humidity.
Several design and environmental assessment tools were used in combination during the early stages of the design.
This proposal won a BIMIE award in 2012 for Best Design Process.
