This design is a competition entry for a NetZero school in Texas, where the goal was to strategize the possible scenarios for achieving net zero standard. The scenarios were two-fold: one was to optimize the aspects of Energy Efficiency and the other was to incorporate incrementally the use of On-Site Renewables.
These strategies were developed in three steps: 1) The Architectural Measures (glazing, overhangs, window optimization for daylight harvesting, solar control), 2) the Architectural Building Integrated Systems (pv panels, wind turbines, solar water collectors), and 3) the Non-architectural Building Integrated Systems (earth to air heat exchangers, energy recovery units, thermal mass optimization).
